no4card – UMass honors Andrew Card

These are some impressions from the graduate commencement 2007 at UMass. I am just showing a very small portion of the ceremonies (which were extensive, well organized and beautifully ceremonious) – look for more pictures of the festivities to appear soon on the UMass site.

Protests during the 2007 UMass Graduate Commencement

A little background: UMass decided to bestow an honorary degree to Andrew Card, former chief of staff of the Bush White House. As could be expected, this wasn’t very much appreciated by both students and faculty and therefore there was a good number of protests before and during the ceremony. As a result, the laudatio for Card was largely inaudible under all the shouting.
